10 years

I can't believe that it has been 10 years since the 9/11 attacks. I remember that day perfectly, still 10 years later. I remember I was still sleeping and it was almost time to get up for school. My mom came in and said "Wake up, you need to come see this!" She told me I wasn't going to school that day. It was right after the second plane hit the tower and we all knew that it was terrorist attack. I was quite young then. My mom said that this would change the world. I think that was the moment I realized the seriousness of this. After that I was scared, I knew everything in the world would be different. Its true, 9/11 changed a lot of things.

10 years later I spent the day watching footage from that day. I watched video of people who were there and just filming things. It was like watching a scary movie where you want to tell those people to run or get out and away as fast as they can because you know whats coming. It was scary to watch 9/11 happen again. It was actually more horrifying now at 20 then it was at 10. I think its because I understand how truly devastating it was. watching these peoples footage of the day brought tears to my eyes. How truly frightening that event was, even thousands of miles away it was frightening. But to be there in the action of it all? To see it first hand and not on television? One video a lady was filming and they had a view of both of the towers from their window. They watched them collapse. When the smoke and ash cleared in the sky, there was nothing. How eerie.

I don't know, seeing this moment in history played over again gave me a new respect for that day. For all those people who had their lives taken and to all those who gave their lives to save and protect. It makes my respect stronger to fireman and police officers, and our military. It has to take a lot of courage to risk your life. and for that I am grateful to all who serve.

9/11 is a day we will never forget, for it truly changed the world.
