So the past few days have been quite the adventure..
Saturday I had Rachel's 2nd baby shower. It was at her fiances family's house in Honeyville. Which is about two hours away from home. It was an all day thing. I got there about 12:00pm and didn't leave until 8pm. I didn't do a whole lot. I mostly sat around but I did move around a lot. It was definitely a long day. We were outside for all of it, luckily it was cloudy so it wasn't way hot. But being 8 months pregnant. Sitting outside all day can lead to over doing it.
Sunday I had plans with my family to go to lunch and then see harry potter. Not an activity that is straining or anything. I was fine up until the end of the movie when I got a sharp pain on my left side in my back. Now I'm not sure what it was, I felt fine. I thought maybe I had some bubbles in my tummy, but it wasn't that. I thought that the loud from the movie scared Ev back into my back and she was pinching a nerve. Or maybe the seats were just way uncomfortable or I had to pee. Well I had to pee but that didn't stop the pain. Walking didn't make it go away and a comfier seat didn't fix it either. I knew they were contractions but I didn't want to believe it. I'm only 32 weeks and i'm just not ready.
They weren't overly painful contractions but if I were in labor I knew I could stop it before it progressed. I contemplated telling my mom about the back pain at first but I knew since we were in salt lake and close to my doctors and the hospital that I should tell her before we got home. I'm glad I did.
Now before I scare you all.. NO Evee is still in my belly and NO I didn't go into labor.
But I was having contractions..
It was false labor. I guess you could say I got braxton hicks. The only scary part was they were kind of consistent. It wasn't just one here and there, I kept getting them. They were irregular but I was getting them. And they were mighty uncomfortable. I knew that the back pain wasn't right. I guess its my body preparing for labor, which is fine but I figured braxton hicks would be a little different and not so much like labor. I had to stay in the hospital for a few hours and get poked. I got an IV and a blood draw. I was also hooked up to the fetal heart monitor with the contraction monitor. They did some tests to see if I had a UTI (the most common form of pre-term labor) and they checked for an Enzyme which your body gives off if your in labor or about to go into labor. They were all false. I wasn't dilated nor had my cervix thinned out. THANK GOD.
I just have annoying labor pains..
well that's fine. Plus Ev is doing A-OK. She was kickin at the fetal monitor and rollin around the whole hospital visit. That also meant I wasn't in pre-term labor cause she clearly wasn't in stress.
but I'm glad I went to the hospital. I'm still nervous about going into labor even though they said I'm fine. Luckily.. well not so luckily, I have to go to the doctors twice weekly now. So if theres a problem, they will be able to find it.
I had a doctors appointment today and everything was okayish. They were talking about blood sugars again but my blood pressure is down!
then I had another non-stress test. (I get two a week) I was having consistent contractions again, they told the doctor but I had already gotten checked so they knew I was fine. I actually got 3 contractions 3 minutes apart and then nothing for a while. Weird. but Ev was sleepy this time. (she was wild an hour before) so it took awhile to get the revved up heartbeat. I bet Evee was tired from all the excitement of yesterday and I wasn't feeling good today.
SO yeah.. that was the adventure. Not to fun but I'm glad things are okay for now. I need Evee to stay in my belly for a couple more weeks at least. Hopefully another month. By the way, MTV if your reading this.. they should probably show all the crap they have to d to you when your pregnant. I'm sure a lot more girls would hold off on sex if they knew what they had to do. If your a mom then you know of a speculum.. or well a woman. Can I say.. OUCH? I've never had to deal with one until yesterday and I'm sure that's not my last experience but ouch! I hated every second of that thing. I was warned but you never know how truly awful until well.. your dealing with one. Also being "checked" not my idea of a good time. Quite awkward. I'm not going to lie. But oh well.. theres a first time for everything.. and I just got it over with. lol
